Navigating Studio

Canvas Studio is a tool that enables users to manage and interact with media files, such as videos and audio, within the Canvas platform. It offers a variety of features, including embedding media in courses, media editing, analytics, and captioning. Users can access Canvas Studio through the Global Navigation Menu.

 

Canvas Studio Interface

In Canvas Studio, the My Library page provides options for sorting, searching, filtering, and creating content.

  • Media with captions will show a Caption icon, and media with a video quiz will display a Quiz icon.

Studio Navigation

  • To return to the My Library page from any other page, click the Home icon.

  • By default, the most recently uploaded media appears first. To change the sorting order, use the Sort by menu and select a new option.

  • To view media shared with you, open the Shared Library menu. To see your course collections, click the Course Collections menu. For Groups, Conferences, and Integrations, or to manage caption settings, visit the Settings tab.

Manage Media

  • For viewing options, click the Grid View icon to see media in a grid, or the List View icon for a list. You can reorder the media by clicking the Reorder icon and selecting a new order.

  • To manage multiple media at once, check the All box, then click Options to move, tag, or delete them. To exclude specific media, uncheck the box next to the item.

Adding and Editing Media

  • To add new media:
    Click the Create button to upload media via screen capture, webcam, or file upload.

  • Search:
    Click the search icon to quickly find specific media.

  • To edit existing media:
    Click the Options icon next to the media item. This will provide editing options such as creating video quizzes, annotating videos, and managing captions.

Viewing and Managing Media

  • Users can filter by media types such as Studio recordings, Zoom uploads, YouTube, or Vimeo, as well as by tags, captioned or uncaptioned videos, or a specific date range—either after or before a chosen date.

    Click the Apply button to apply the filters.

 

  • To view media:
    Click the media thumbnail to open and interact with the media file.

To manage media:
Tabs give you access to the following options:

  • Details: View metadata and information about the media.

  • Comments: View and manage comments on the media.

  • Viewership Insights: Access analytics on media engagement.

  • Captioning: Request automatic captions or manage existing ones.
