If your students are experiencing difficulties accessing a Google assignment, there are several common situations to consider and here are the strategies to address them.
âLaunch Errorâ
If a student encounters a "Launch Error" while trying to access Google Assignments, itâs likely due to account conflicts. At school, their CISD Google account is linked automatically when they sign into a Chromebook. However, at home, multiple family members may use the same device with personal Google accounts signed in. This prevents the students CISD Google account from connecting to the Google assignment, which prevents them from accessing the Google Assignment.
Here are some tips to help resolve this issue:

Verifying your Google connectivity while working in Canvas
For the best experience, please use the Chrome browser and log into your SSO here. You will need to enter your student username and password.
Once you're logged into your SSO main page, make sure you verify that you are logged into your Google Account. Click on the circled image, like the one in the image below.
Note: If you are a student, your CISD student email account will be displayed, such as xxxxx@studentmail.conroeisd.net.
Next, verify that you are logged into your Google Drive account. Search for Google Drive in your SSO and select the Google Drive icon.
Once Google Drive is open, click on the initial in the top right corner. You should see your student email listed where the red arrow is pointing.
You have now verified that you are logged into your Google browser and signed into your Google Drive.
âCanât access assignment; Studentâs canât access this assignment until the instructor opens the assignment and links their Google Accountâ
If students report they canât view a Google assignment and encounter a specific error message, it may be because the instructor has not yet opened the assignment or linked their Google account. This issue often occurs because some aspect of the Google Assignment was shared and is not linked.
To resolve this error
Log into your Canvas account in one tab by navigating to Canvas from your SSO.
Open the specific Google assignment in Canvas. While keeping the Canvas tab open, open a new tab and navigate back to your CISD SSO. From there, find and click on Google Drive.
Ensure that you are logged into both Google Drive in one browser tab and Canvas in another, then reopen the Google assignment. Following these steps should ensure the assignment is linked and accessible to your students.
