**Make sure you have LockDown Browser enabled in your course navigation menu before you continue!**

Any emojis or special characters in the titles of your quizzes will prevent LockDown Browser from working. If you attempt to open the LockDown Browser dashboard and get the following error, one or more of your quiz titles includes an emoji or special character.

To set up a quiz in Canvas that requires students to use LockDown Browser, follow these steps:

First Create the quiz in your course.

Once you have created your quiz, elect LockDown Browser in your course navigation to open the LockDown Browser dashboard.

A list of quizzes in the course will be displayed.

     *Quizzes labeled with Required require students to use LockDown Browser.
     *Quizzes labeled with Not Required do not require students to use LockDown Browser.

and choose the desired option.To change the settings, click on the green arrow icon to the left of the quiz title, select Settings.

Now choose the desired option.

Select Save + Close to save your changes.

 

Advanced Settings

Click on Advanced Settings to display all options available.

Lock students into the browser until exam is completed - this setting will prevent students from exiting the browser until the exam is completed. 

Allow students to take this exam with an iPad - This setting will allow students to take the exam with an iPad, using the free LockDown Browser app (app must be installed on iPad).

Allow access to specific external web domains - This setting will allow students to access a list of specified web domains during the test.

Enable Calculator on the toolbar -  This settings  allows instructors to provide students with a calculator in the LockDown Browser toolbar.

Enable Printing from the toolbar -  This settings allows instructors to provide students with a print function in the LockDown Browser toolbar.

 

For additional information, select the [explain] link that follows each setting.

Select Save + Close to save your changes.
