An overview of Canvas enhanced gradebook filters.

In the Enhanced Gradebook Filter view, teachers can create custom filters that can be saved for future use or applied just once. They also have access to a selection of preloaded filters like the ones in the image below, making it easy to quickly sort and analyze student data.

Gradebook data will remain filtered until the filter is removed.

Teacher can select filter types to add to the filter. They can also remove filters, apply the filters, and give the filter a name for future use.Ā 

The following Conditions can be used to create filters in the gradebook.

Create Filter Preset Tray

  • Filter Preset Name ā€“ create a name for your filter preset

  • Module ā€“ select from the modules created in the course

  • Assignment Group ā€“ select to see assignment that have ungraded submissions or only those with submissions

  • Student Group ā€“ select to see a class

  • Start Date ā€“ show only assignments that have a due date at a or beyond the start date selected

  • End Date ā€“ show only assignments that have a due date at or before the end date selected

Creating Custom Filter

Teachers can use multiple filter types to create their own custom filters for their gradebook.

Step 1: In the Gradebook click on Apply Filter > Click on Create & Manage Filter Presets.Ā 

This will open the Saved Filter Presets side drawer window.

Step 2: Click on Create Filter Preset>Enter Filter preset name> Select the filters you desire. Once the filter type has been selected click on Save Filter Preset and you will see it displayed as a saved filter in the drawer window.

Step 3: Click on Apply Filters button [1] Click on the name of the desired filter [2]. To remove the filter preset, click the Clear All Filters link [3].
