What is a Google Assignment

Google Assignments is replacing Google Cloud Assignments which works the same way but there are different features & Benefits like:

  • Supports Canvas Collaborations

  • Checks for missed citations and possible plagiarism with the originality reports feature (Limited to 5 assignments per course).

  • Canvas Speedgrader is still supported.

  • Users MUST use their school issued Google accounts (no more re-authorizing Google Drive accounts).

  • You can still create Rubrics.

  • You can monitor student’s progress and leave feedback before students submission by opening files in Google Drive.

  • Google Assignments is providing more robust security, stability and reliability.

  • Each student receives their own copy of an instructor created Google formatted document (Docs, Sheets, Slides, ect.) in their Google Drive.

  • You can freely edit and comment on the original Google Drive files.

  • When work is returned to a student the ownership is returned to the student, but teachers keep the ability to edit. This feature allows students to resubmit a new version of the same file.
