When importing course content with the The Course Import Tool, you allows you to import content from another course into your current course. You can choose to import all content or select specific content or all content. You only have access to items. Please note that you can only import content from courses in which where you are enrolled as a teacher or have teacher-copy only.access. How to Start the Import
Open the course

Selecting What to Import
Next, decide what content to import:
All Content: Choose

Select Adjust events and due dates. Choose Remove dates so that all due dates and all available from and until dates are removed.Â

Canvas displays a warning message about overwriting any existing content in the course. This message always displays regardless of whether the content was previously imported or not.

The Current Jobs section displays the status of your import. Running reports will display a progress bar. If you chose to select specific content, the current job will show as Waiting for Selection. Click on Select Content.

To import all content for a content type, click the checkbox next to the content name. To import only a few items from a content type, expand the group by clicking the arrow and select specific items to be imported. After you have made all of your selections, click the Select Content button.

Specific Content: Select this option if you only want to import certain items. You’ll then need to click Select Content to choose the specific items you want to import. (Click Here for a Help Document on Importing Specific Content)
Additionally, select Remove Dates to remove all "due dates" and "available from and until" dates. This ensures that there are no conflicts with scheduling in your course.

When you’re ready, click Import. Canvas will show a warning that the import will overwrite existing content in the target course.

Tracking the Status of Your Import
Once the import starts, the Current Jobs section will display the status of your import. Be aware that the time it takes to complete may vary based on factors like the number of users, the size of the import, and other factors can affect the time it takes for an import to process. Be prepared to wait.

Things to Keep in Mind
File Storage: Importing content counts toward your course’s file storage limit.
One Import at a Time: Canvas can only process one import at a time.
Draft State settings are retained in course imports. Unpublished Assignments: If an assignment is was unpublished in a the original course when it was copied or exported, the assignment , it will also be unpublished in the content import.
Missing Features: Some features, such as Mastery Paths conditional items and Group Sets, are not retained included in course imports , and paths must be re-created after the import is completed.
Copying content retains any links or files associated with the content, such as in an assignment.
When selecting assignments only, Canvas imports all assessment items within the Assignments page (including any associated quizzes and discussions). Assignments will remain in their assignment groups if an entire assignment group or all assignments are imported.
Group sets do not copy as part of the import. Any existing group sets in the new course will be linked to the group set with the same name. However, if there are no group sets with the same name in the new course, the assignment will be linked to a new Project Groups set.
When selecting individual assignments, assignments are placed in an assignment group called Imported Assignments. However, assignments can be moved into other assignment groups as necessary.
Enrollment-related data, which includes course users, collaborations, conferences, groups, and sections, and feature preview settings are not included in course content imports.
Announcements and Discussions do not retain the name of the user who originally created the course content. Additionally, students do not receive announcement notifications for imported announcements. However, a badge indicating a new announcement displays on the Card View and Recent Activity Dashboards.
Assignments with a manual grade posting policy and anonymous assignments retain the manual grade posting policy and their anonymous settings as part of the course import.
Calendar item locations (e.g., office hours slots with an assigned office location) are not included in course imports.
Importing courses and course files count against course file quotas.

Assignment-Related Content: Any assignment-related content (like quizzes or discussions) will be imported along with the assignment.
No Enrollment Data: Enrollment data (users, groups, etc.) and certain settings (like feature previews) are not included in the import.
Imported Announcements & Discussions: These will not display the original creator’s name, and students will not receive notifications for these imported announcements.
